November 2009 Newsletter

The count down is on!! On November 7th our flight is scheduled to take off at 7:30 AM. The challenge we face now is to finish packing, tie up loose ends and more importantly, say goodbye to all the friends and family we love. There is a song that seems to be rolling around in our minds lately as we prepare to launch out. It is called:

Our New Home in Uganda

Our New Home in Uganda

Friends are Friends Forever

Lyrics by Michael W. Smith

1.Packing up the dreams God planted

In the fertile soil of you

I can’t believe the hopes He’s granted

Means a chapter of your life is through

But we’ll keep you close as always

It won’t even seem you’ve gone

‘Cause our hearts in big and small ways

Will keep the love that keeps us strong

Chorus: And friends are friends forever

If the Lord’s the Lord of them

And a friend will not say never

‘Cause the welcome will not end

Though it’s hard to let you go

In the Father’s hands we know

That a lifetime’s not too long

To live as friends

2008-06-21 782.And with the faith and love God’s given

Springing from the hope we know

We will pray the joy you live in

Is the strength that now you show

We’ll keep you close as always

It won’t even seem you’ve gone

‘Cause our hearts in big and small ways

Will keep the love that keeps us strong

Chorus

Though it’s hard to let you go

In the Father’s hands we know

That a lifetime’s not too long

To live as friends

No a lifetime’s not too long

To live as friends

Next time you hear from us, we will be in the amazing country of Uganda. We can’t wait to watch as our children discover Africa for themselves!! What will they think? How will they respond? How will they be used to love and help our friends there? We can’t wait to share our experience with you! How will God use our mission to encourage you and make a difference in your life? We feel like we are all in this together… There will be highs and lows, victories and challenges. We look forward to taking you with us…thanks for joining us on this journey of a life time.

First Newsletter

We are pleased to present our first newsletter! We are humbled to think that the Lord has chosen us “for such a time as this” to enter the mission field. We are glad to share our journey with those who know and love us, as well as those who will enter into our lives at this time and join us as we begin to walk into this strange new land God is sending us to.

As we send out this letter, we have 37 days left until our scheduled flight that will take us to Uganda, Africa. There, we will be serving Show Mercy, International as missionaries in accordance with what the Lord has directed us to do. Over the past year our family has become a team focused on a common goal. Through all the things we have had to accomplish to get ready for this change of life, we have worked together, struggled together, studied the Word together, prayed together and we have joined our hearts and minds to do that which God has called us to.

Below you will find posts written both by us and two of our children who will be joining us. We invite you to read them and share this amazing experience with us.

In the Grasp of the Father’s Hand,
